Counselling with Christine

‘We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.’

Carl Rogers

Hello, my name is Christine, a Person-Centred Counsellor offering a warm, safe, therapeutic space for you to talk about what is on your mind.

My life experiences, combined with personal counselling and self-help, helped me to understand myself, restoring my self-worth as I navigated life’s challenges. This led to my passion for supporting others to help them find balance, peace, self-understanding as they travel through life.

I am a qualified Counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (membership number: 407857) working within their ethical framework. I am insured, have DBS clearance and regular supervision.

My Counselling Journey

I obtained my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at South Staffordshire College and have successfully been working with clients since 2022 supporting them in self-growth. I am an experienced Grief Counsellor and Counsellor for survivors of Sexual Violence and Abuse.

Prior to my Counselling qualification I worked in the Corporate sector but my passion for helping others led me to several volunteering roles. These include Childline, Cruse Bereavement Support and SARAC (Sexual Abuse Rape Advice Centre).

I hope you find all the information you need to answer any questions you may have, if not, please feel free to contact me for further information.

My Approach

As a Person-Centred Counsellor I specialise in client led therapy, placing you at the heart of the process, to help you explore and understand matters that are troubling you. I am led by you to talk about what you want to talk about. I may draw on techniques from different types of therapy to tailor an approach specifically for you.

I have experience working with adults of all ages with a range of life issues including anxiety and depression, bereavement and loss, low self-esteem, workplace issues, relationship difficulties, sexual abuse, domestic violence and eating disorders/body image.

Together we will build a safe, confidential space where you can share your deepest thoughts and feelings. Together, we can work towards finding answers, solutions, and strategies enabling you to regain balance, and ultimately thrive in all aspects of your life.

‘People only seriously consider change when they feel accepted for exactly who they are.’

Carl Rogers

I passionately believe that everyone deserves support. I work inclusively, accepting you as you are. It is okay to express emotion, be vulnerable.

My Counselling room is in a lovely private room in my home. My aim for this is to be a welcoming, safe place for you to just be you. I offer therapy to individuals in South Derbyshire, South Staffordshire, Burton and Uttoxeter. As well as Online and Telephone support.

Initial Consultation

Following your initial enquiry I will contact you to arrange a time and date for a 15-20 minute telephone call. We can get to know each other a little which will help you decide if I am the right Counsellor for you. If you are comfortable we can then arrange your first session.

A trusting therapeutic relationship is the catalyst for your growth.

Session Options

I offer sessions online, telephone and in-person. I strongly recommend weekly sessions as this helps us to get to know each other and develop a trusting therapeutic relationship. There is of course some flexibility and we will always work together on what is best to meet

your needs.

The sessions are open ended and we will always work together to plan for the ending.
